ISLANDS DC Arya Kanathil-Meethal Presents at EuCAP 2026 in Dublin

From 19 to 24 April 2026, ISLANDS Doctoral Candidate Arya Kanathil-Meethal took part in EuCAP 2026, held in Dublin. Hosted by Wave Up and the University of Siena, Arya contributed to one of the leading international events in the field of antennas and propagation.

During the conference, Arya presented her research titled “A 77 GHz Beam Scanning Leaky-Wave Antenna” within the Leaky Waves II session. Her work explores the design and experimental validation of a mechanically reconfigurable metasurface antenna, capable of wide-angle beam scanning for automotive radar applications. This approach offers a promising low-complexity and energy-efficient alternative to conventional phased-array systems, which are typically more demanding in terms of cost and power consumption.

In addition to her main presentation, Arya also shared preliminary results on electrically reconfigurable leaky-wave antennas. This ongoing research investigates the integration of tunable metasurface technologies to enable more flexible and adaptive beam-steering solutions, paving the way for next-generation radar and sensing systems.

Arya’s research is carried out under the supervision of Cristian Della Giovampaola and Francesco Caminita at Wave Up, and Stefano Maci at the University of Siena.

Participation in EuCAP 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to engage with leading researchers from academia and industry, fostering insightful technical discussions and strengthening the visibility of the ISLANDS project within the international scientific community.
