The ISLANDS MSCA Doctoral Network is pleased to announce the publication of its fourth project newsletter (March 2026), offering an overview of the latest achievements, activities, and milestones across the consortium.
This new issue highlights the continuous progress of the project in advancing research and training in the field of Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) for next-generation 6G wireless systems.
A key focus of the newsletter is the training programme, which remains central to ISLANDS. Over the past months, Doctoral Candidates have actively participated in a complementary course on proposal writing and professional project preparation, as well as in the Winter School on Joint Communication and Sensing, held in Ponte di Legno (Italy). These activities provided both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, while fostering collaboration and networking within and beyond the consortium.
The newsletter also presents updates on ongoing research activities, showcasing the work of several Doctoral Candidates in areas such as:
- ISAC for automotive applications in shared spectrum environments
- Resource allocation for ISAC-enabled vehicular networks
- Advanced radio-based SLAM algorithms for localization and mapping
In addition, the issue highlights the project’s strong commitment to dissemination and outreach. ISLANDS has been actively represented at major international conferences, including IEEE GLOBECOM 2025 and the Global 6G Conference, contributing to the global discussion on future communication technologies. Outreach initiatives, such as Open Days and STEM activities, have further strengthened the project’s engagement with a broader audience.
Overall, Newsletter #4 reflects the dynamic evolution of the ISLANDS project, combining high-quality research, structured training, and impactful dissemination.
